Technical Manager

Motivf is seeking a Technical Manager to provide trusted technical leadership across the firm as we grow. This role prioritizes sound judgment, composure, and the ability to represent Motivf credibly on technical matters with clients, partners, and auditors. The Technical Manager provides strategic direction across software, hardware, applications, and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with Motivf’s delivery model, risk posture, and long-term growth objectives.

This role plays a central part in guiding security, compliance, and risk management efforts, including work related to CMMC, ISO certifications, and other governance requirements. The Technical Manager translates technical standards into practical policies, workflows, and decisions that are proportionate, sustainable, and appropriate for a professional services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted technical representative for Motivf with clients, partners, and auditors

  • Provide strategic guidance across software, hardware, applications, and infrastructure

  • Advise leadership on technical risks, tradeoffs, and opportunities in clear, practical terms

Security, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Guide and coordinate firm efforts related to security and compliance frameworks (e.g., CMMC, ISO)

  • Translate standards and requirements into actionable policies, procedures, and workflows

  • Ensure security controls and practices are appropriate, sustainable, and aligned with firm needs

  • Support audits, assessments, and ongoing compliance activities

Technology Stack & Systems Alignment

  • Maintain alignment across firm-wide tools, platforms, and systems

  • Evaluate and rationalize technology stacks to reduce risk, redundancy, and complexity

  • Advise on tooling decisions and ensure interoperability across teams

  • Balance innovation with stability, avoiding over-engineered or fragile solutions

Communication & Enablement

  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical leaders and teams

  • Support informed decision-making through clear documentation and guidance

  • Enable secure, reliable operations without seeking personal technical ownership

Stewardship & Execution

  • Bring full effort to both visible initiatives and behind-the-scenes work

  • Exercise discretion, ethical judgment, and care in handling sensitive information

  • Operate calmly and effectively under pressure or ambiguity

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in technical leadership, IT, systems, or security-focused roles

  • CompTIA Security+ certification (required)

  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, and risk management principles

  • Experience working with or supporting CMMC, ISO, or similar frameworks preferred

  • Ability to evaluate technical systems holistically rather than in isolation

  • Excellent judgment, problem-solving skills, and follow-through

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is motivated by enabling secure, reliable, and scalable operations rather than personal technical ownership. They bring clarity to complexity, stay composed under pressure, and take pride in doing thoughtful, ethical, and proportionate work—even when it happens quietly behind the scenes.
