Art Director

Motivf is seeking an Art Director to provide creative leadership across the firm and help grow our Creative service line over time. This role highly prioritizes visual judgment, layout acumen, and the ability to translate design excellence into operational and commercial impact.

Initially, the Art Director will focus on strengthening internal operations by establishing clarity, consistency, and quality across Motivf’s visual outputs—including marketing materials, proposals, presentations, and brand assets. As the role matures, this position will evolve to lead and grow Creative as a client-facing capability, supporting pursuits, shaping offerings, and contributing directly to new delivery work.

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both execution and direction, as well as comfort operating within professional services constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Leadership & Standards

  • Establish and maintain high standards for visual quality, layout, and brand consistency

  • Define and evolve visual systems across marketing, proposals, presentations, and production assets

  • Provide clear creative direction, critique, and guidance to designers and collaborators

  • Articulate design rationale clearly to both creative and non-creative stakeholders

Hands-On Design & Execution

  • Produce high-quality design work as needed, particularly for proposals and high-visibility deliverables

  • Ensure creative work is clear, persuasive, and aligned with Motivf’s positioning and values

  • Balance creativity with discipline, timelines, and delivery constraints

Proposal & Client-Facing Support

  • Partner with business development and delivery teams on proposals and pursuits

  • Translate complex ideas into compelling visual narratives

  • Ensure client-facing materials reflect both design excellence and strategic intent

Creative Practice Growth

  • Help position Creative as a differentiating capability at Motivf

  • Collaborate with leadership to shape Creative offerings and service models

  • Contribute to pursuit strategies and help win new work

  • Support the transition of Creative from an internal function to a scalable service line

Operational & Professional Services Alignment

  • Work effectively within professional services environments and constraints

  • Maintain strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail

  • Ensure creative efforts support broader firm goals rather than operating in isolation

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in design, visual communication, or art direction

  • Exceptional visual literacy and strong layout and typography skills

  • Experience setting and maintaining design standards across multiple asset types

  • Ability to provide thoughtful critique and clear creative direction

  • Comfort balancing hands-on work with leadership responsibilities

  • Experience supporting proposals or client-facing work preferred

  • Strong organizational skills and professional judgment

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate takes pride in craft, exercises sound judgment, and brings full effort to both behind-the-scenes work and high-visibility pursuits. They are motivated by building a creative practice that delivers consistently high-quality work and contributes directly to the firm’s growth, reputation, and differentiation.
