GIS Developer
Motivf is looking for a Part-Time GIS Developer who’s passionate about building interactive web-based mapping solutions using open-source tools. This role will play a key part in shaping modern geospatial tools and applications that support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain interactive geospatial web applications using Leaflet, React, and PostGIS.
Integrate spatial data with RESTful APIs and dynamic front-end frameworks.
Work with UX/UI designers and/or other developers to deliver responsive, accessible, and user-friendly map-based interfaces.
Develop and maintain efficient geospatial queries and perform spatial data analysis using PostGIS.
Optimize map performance and implement best practices for client-side and server-side rendering.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and implement business and user needs in geospatial applications.
Support data ingestion, cleaning, transformation, and visualization of spatial datasets.
Qualifications
Required:
3+ years of professional experience in GIS or full-stack web development with geospatial components.
Strong proficiency in Leaflet, React, and PostGIS.
Experience working with spatial data formats (GeoJSON, shapefiles, raster data, etc.).
Familiarity with tools and libraries like Turf.js, Mapbox, or D3.js is a plus.
Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial analysis techniques.
Proficiency in JavaScript, SQL, and related web technologies (HTML5/CSS3).
Ability to communicate complex geospatial concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
U.S. citizenship or work authorization required (must be eligible for government contracting work).
Preferred:
Familiarity with federal geospatial data sources.
Knowledge of cloud platforms and hosting geospatial services.
Background in human-centered design.
