Cultural and Linguistic Specialist
Motivf is looking to hire a Part-Time Cultural and Linguistic Specialist based in Poland who will serve as a key contributor in ensuring that all materials, communications, and participatory activities are culturally relevant and accurately translated for Polish-speaking populations. This role also involves supporting localization and adaptation of child feedback tools to Polish cultural norms, sensitivities, and language use.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate written materials and communication tools from English/Ukrainian to Polish (and vice versa) with a high degree of accuracy and contextual relevance.
Review and adapt content of child feedback mechanisms to align with Polish cultural norms and values.
Provide real-time interpretation support during focus groups, workshops, or interviews with Polish-speaking participants, especially children and caregivers.
Work collaboratively with the human-centered design team to ensure child-friendly language is used appropriately across all communication channels.
Advise the project team on regional linguistic variations, sensitivities, and inclusivity considerations.
Provide insights and feedback on testing materials or prototypes with local communities.
Help facilitate culturally sensitive community outreach and engagement efforts.
Qualifications:
Native fluency in Polish and professional proficiency in English.
Bachelor’s degree in translation, linguistics, communication, anthropology, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in translation/interpretation, cultural mediation, or similar roles, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
Demonstrated experience working with children or vulnerable populations in multicultural settings.
Strong understanding of Polish cultural, social, and regional contexts—especially in relation to children and families.
Experience with or familiarity with human-centered design or participatory research is desirable.
