Community Management Intern

Position Summary

Do you know what it takes to grow an online/offline community? We’re looking for a community manager to build our network of collaborators, partners, and advisors by implementing tactics that grow our public Slack team, engage and retain partners, create engaging content for bi-weekly or monthly events, and help convert our network into active fans and promoters of our company. You should have command of best practices and trends in digital media, enjoy being creative, and understand how to build and convert an audience. You will be our ear to the ground to working with our partners and network to develop engaging events, discussions, and content.

Location: Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia.

Work you’ll do:

In your role, you will be responsible to:

  • Hosting bi-monthly events for community members

  • Coordinating all content output for day-to-day community building efforts across all platforms (Slack, LinkedIn, Zoom, etc) in line with community calendars

  • Working with content creators, storytellers, and designers to plan and develop engaging content.

  • Planning shareable content appropriate for specific networks to spread both our brand and our content.

  • Monitoring and engaging in relevant social discussions about our company, competitors, and/or industry, both from existing leads and customers as well as from brand new audiences.

  • Running regular social promotions and campaigns and track their success (e.g., Twitter chats, LinkedIn discussions, etc.).

  • Working alongside other media and content marketers to help distribute content that educates and entertains our community and supports community development goals.

  • Exploring new ways to engage, identify new networks, and build loyalty to reach and sustain our community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to create quality copy and imagery for platforms

  • Self-starter with tons of initiative, creativity, and drive

  • Active and well-rounded personal presence in social media, with a command of each network and their best practices.

  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.

  • Proficiency in using social media software (e.g. the HubSpot Social Inbox) to monitor digital media conversations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of related experience at a creative agency or similar

  • Experience and skills include Adobe Creative Suite, demand generation, inbound marketing, and blogging. Proficiency in photo touch-up tools (i.e. Adobe Photoshop), graphics (Illustrator), and creative content software.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Ability to work successfully with teams, independently, and under pressure

  • Knowledge of print methods and guidelines

  • Familiar with marketing research and measurement best practices
